Great Lakes Invitational 1/15/11

Fellow Great Lakes region Crossfitters,

Crossfit Indy North is proud to host the 2011 Great Lakes CrossFit Invitational on January 15th, 2011. The event will be held on the Saturday of Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend at the Crossfit Indy North box, located just north of Indianapolis, IN. This event is open to men and women of all ages and ability levels. There will be prizes (cash and other) for the top 3 men and women and event t-shirts for all competitors. This event will begin at 8 a.m. and finish sometime in the evening and will probably consist of 3 events and a final. The timing of the event is such that it will be an excellent tune up for the CF games season which begins with the sectionals in late February/early March.

The Northeast side of Indianapolis has ample lodging and entertainment options. Details on area amenities can be found at crossfitindynorth.com.

Running Clinic 7/24/11

Running Clinic. On Saturday, July 24th learn what it takes to run faster and more efficiently for distance. Coach Scott Todnem, co-founder of the Naperville Track Club goes over the basics and modified techniques to have you running at your best. The clinic starts at 10am, is followed by an 11am workout incorporating the techniques you will learn, and concludes with a cookout at 12pm. $10/person for the clinic, but the cookout is FREE for all participants and attendees. Murph For Miller: MURPH is a CrossFit workout named in honor of Navy SEAL LT Michael Murphy, who was killed in action and then received the Medal of Honor. His honorary workout is as follows:

  • Run 1 mile.
  • Do 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats (partition as needed).
  • Run 1 mile.

CrossFit Amplify will be closed Saturday, May 15th so that we may participate at CrossFit Tri-Cities Murph for Miller event.  We hope to see you there!

Police Week Memorial Workout

From Trinity Training Group: This challenge has been dubbed "the 75-by-75" because it's just that: 75 pounds lifted 75 times. From ground to overhead anyhow (shortened G2OA). Some participants use technical barbell movements such as the clean-and-jerk or power snatch. Others just muscle the weight up "anyhow." Most use a mixture of different techniques, movements, and grips until 75 reps are completed. Regardless, it's a true challenge that puts demands on all muscle groups and the cardio-respiratory system too.

CrossFit Amplify encourages local officers to stop in at our location to participate in the 75x75 memorial workout through Friday, May 14th during our regular business hours.  We will record and submit your results for you.
